Hi I’m Kyle. I work for Pow Ideas and I’m a rock climber. Currently I’m working on a whole myriad of different types of projects. There are some houses, some cafes, F&B, we just finished up on a few offices.
I think I like the sense of what is going to happen, where the trajectory of what APW has in mind for the creatives in KL, and I feel that Uppercase is being at the forefront of that envelope I guess, of what the industry is looking for.
I think out of the 4 core values, the one that resonates with me is dedication to the craft. For me, it is very important that you understand what you do, how you do it, and how you commit to it. It is very important.
My best experience here so far was my birthday surprise where they got me cake. It was great, loved it.

I think I would describe Uppercase as a creative space which is ideal for anyone who wants to work in community, and understand what is it like to be in a symbiotic relationship with the people around you rather than work as an island.
I like the ‘Cha Chan Ting’ table because it’s really intimate and it is very comfortable and it was a very interesting find in the junkyard when we found it.
I like the sense that when I come to work here, I feel that it’s people who understand where I come from as a designer as well, and also people who are excited about what I do and I get excited about what they do as well.
My name is Jeffrey Lim and I'm from Kuala Lumpur. I'm a graphic designer but I do many things.
I'm currently working on a report of Kuala Lumpur. It’s a commissioned project. I have to do surveys in KL and come out with recommendations.
I think it is working with what you have. So with your limitations come boundless opportunities.
Of all the four core values in Uppercase, I think one that really interests me is sparring, I mean it’s a choice of words as well but I like the part where you can brainstorm and throw ideas off. “What do you think of this?” “What do you think of that?” Because we all come from different industries, different practices, so it’s interesting to hear different point of views.
My best experience in Uppercase, I think is when we have parties, that’s like so cool. I love office parties.

First of all, it's a co-working space. Everyone asked me “Where are you? Why are you in a factory?” It's not a factory, it is a co-working space. Then when I bring them here, they see it, they be like “Wow!”.
Oh my favourite spot, I have many actually. I love the light, the natural light which is fantastic. A place to actually sit the whole day. Because a co-working space can be like any office, but this is more than a co-working space. It’s a repurposed space and you are in an old factory, it’s been converted to a workspace and it’s beautifully done.
Of course is all the office chit chat and gossiping, lunching together, but I think one of my favourite moments is actually playing foosball. With Azli, we have a tournament going on. He has beaten me for the first time yesterday.
It’s still a new community, and we are still starting to understand what each other is doing, what our strengths but it is very interesting because everyone is doing something so unique.
So just seeing how and what they do is really interesting.
Hi, my name is Razif Hashim, I am an entertainer, entrepreneur and educator. I’m ever growing my training business, FTalent, we are an acting school that also helps empower people with their daily lives. I guess one of the best thing that ever happened to me was when I was asked to do “Best in the World Japan”. It was a defining moment in my hosting career and my career in being an actor in Malaysia.
Creativity means to create something, like just make something either with your hands, with your mind, with your voice, whether it makes someone feel something, that feeling is a creation that you have made, the spirit of making stuff happen.
Typical day in Uppercase starts at the gates of APW, then you go into Pulp, get a coffee, come upstairs, after that go into the room, start to work, then you come out, get some water and before you know it, it’s already time for lunch, pretty much find yourself mingling with a lot of people but I think that’s what a day in Uppercase is, it’s that mingling that brings your work to the next level and suddenly that 2 hours when you cramp everything in become so productive.
Most of them will be social gatherings that happen in Uppercase every now and then. It’s very open, it’s a great place to meet people, the connections that we make every single day here is what matters.

I think it’s the sense of fellowship. We are all creators here and we all work in different fields so to speak, in a way we’re competitive because of the nature of being creative, everybody wants to get there first, everybody wants to be the first to create, it’s a trait that creative people have but I don’t find us being rivals, I find us being synergistic. Ideas sort of bounce off each other, I’ve had so many ideas injected into my own work just by talking to people over here, we respect each other and dedicate ourselves as a community towards being creative.
I would say, “Hey! Uppercase is bright, it’s fun and it’s super eclectic.”
Hi, I’m Joel. I’m originally from the UK and I have now lived in Malaysia for 2 years, I’m an Ang Moh (expat) in Malaysia.
I think creativity is about finding new ways, to express something that really resonates with every person, so finding a new image or new way to portray something.
My best experience here in Uppercase was one time, I took my whole team into the meeting room, and we had an amazing 2-hour meeting, solved loads of problems, really got ahead on all of our work and it just felt like, the whole world was moving forward, it was brilliant.
A typical day in Uppercase. Come in just before lunch, after having some morning meetings downstairs in the cafe, and then around lunch time I find my productivity increases. I sit in my office, get a load of work done, and have constant cups of Milo.
My best experience here in Uppercase was one time, I took my whole team into the meeting room, and we had an amazing 2-hour meeting, solved loads of problems, really got ahead on all of our work and it just felt like, the whole world was moving forward, it was brilliant.
My favourite core value of Uppercase is sense of fellowship. I think that community is really important and if you got other people around who can motivate you, and encourage you, kind of spur you on to keep on going.
Uppercase is fun, it’s refreshing, everyday feels new, I think it’s creative, something about the space inspires you just in the design, and the way it’s laid out, and it’s really practical, it’s really easy to get on with work here.
My favourite thing in Uppercase is the welcome desk. When you walk in, it’s got the old piece of machinery with the cogs inside, so at night time it is lit up and it looks amazing so I always show people that when I come in.
I think the community here is motivated and very encouraging. So I think you’ll find everybody here is so friendly, everybody is interested in what you are doing, and whenever they hear about the work you are producing, they want to encourage you to keep on going, and keep on working hard.
My name is Sho Suzuki, and I work for FTalent. Basically FTalent is a free acting class that we are giving out to the community around Malaysia. Right now, what our current project is that we are experimenting on a lot of 360 videos, and see what we can do with it to make it more interactive and more fun.
Creativity means the next step towards human advancement.
Uppercase’s got a very nice 70s to 80s kind of office feel to it, it helps to generate my imagination and creativity.
I would say “experience” because throughout my backpacking trip, I received a lot of “experience”.
Uppercase’s got a very nice 70s to 80s kind of office feel to it, it helps to generate my imagination and creativity.
A typical day for me in Uppercase would mostly be brainstorming. Everywhere I see or everywhere I go, people are always talking about products or projects that they are discussing. Even working in the office, whenever my boss is around, Raz, we would always brainstorm and talk about new projects, new ideas of what we can do next, after we are done with our current projects.
My ideal workspace would be something like Uppercase, except, no, in addition, a newer console game to play along with.
To me, Uppercase is the most hipster and creative co-working space in KL.
Hi. I’m Rave. I’m a designer in a tech company called TwoAcres, and we are providing property tools for real estate. Currently I am working on real estate project design and social marketing design.
The most important life lesson for someone to learn, for me, is choosing a good boss better than a good job.
I choose Uppercase because the interior design over here is very unique compared to other places
My ideal workspace is like a Google office, it is spacious and there are a lot of games provided in the office.
I choose Uppercase because the interior design over here is very unique compared to other places.
My best experience over here is there are Uppercase events where we can know more about community members, and know more about what they are doing.
Of the four core values of Uppercase, it will be exploring possibilities. We would like to explore and collaborate with other community members, and make something new that has never happened before.
I would like to say Uppercase is a nice and comfortable place for doing our work, and we can relax over here without any stress.
Favourite thing to show off is toilet, it is the most unique toilet I have ever seen compared to other offices.
Hi, my name is Arsyan Ismail. Our company 1337 Tech, we are working on Bitcoin technologies.
The most important life lesson for someone to learn is to go through experience, you know how it’s like to fail and then you know how it’s like to get back up after you fail.
My best experience in Uppercase I remembered, you guys bought nasi lemak and those goodies for us to eat right, where we all gather and get to know each other, you know during the makan-makan (eat) at the pantry there, so I think that’s like a nice moment for me in Uppercase.
Why I would choose Uppercase is because of the toilet, because that’s where I do my thinking, you know when I’m in there nobody disturbs me, that’s where I focus and come out with new ideas.

The core values that you guys put up, exploring possibilities is the one that resonates with us. Personally myself, I would like to explore as much opportunities as possible with everyone around.
Everyone here has similar minds you know, not like the old-school style of thinking, probably because everyone is young, I guess the community here very vibrant.
If I have to describe Uppercase to someone I would say, “Dude! Come to my office man, there’s so much things around, there’s two hipster cafés around here, you’ll see people taking selfies and it’s like a very happening place.”
Hi, my name is Calvin. I’m currently working as the marketing team for TwoAcres. Currently we are working on expanding our team to overseas as well as we are doing a new platform which will make the life of real estate agents easier.
For me creativity doesn’t mean to be thinking out of the box, it can be just combining various things and coming out with new ideas.
I believe it will be the photograph in this community space because previously I have been working in traditional offices and there’s no such community like in Uppercase here.
Of the four core values, I believe the one that resonates with me the most will be exploring possibilities, because it’s similar to our working culture where we need to explore new things in order to improve ourselves as well as delivering more value to our customers.
I believe it will be the photograph in this community space because previously I have been working in traditional offices and there’s no such community like in Uppercase here.
My favourite non-work activity would be playing foosball because it is fun and at the same time it is exciting and competitive to play.
I have not collaborated with anyone yet but I hope to collaborate with Razif because he is one of my idols and he is the 8TV host.
I believe the community exists here will be fun, it is a happy and friendly community where people will share their things that they do and they care about one another. I’ll say that Uppercase is definitely the right place you should visit, and it is a very fun place and people are friendly to one another, and if you have time, please come.
My name is Jun. I’m an architect and I’m the co-founder of POW Ideas. So we do a range of interior architecture and also art installations.
My most memorable career moment would have to be this light installation that I did in Butterworth, Penang, that managed to gain some international attention.
I chose Uppercase because I think it’s a space that is very experimental, that is very raw, there’s a lot of different opportunities where new ideas can actually come about so that is really nice. It’s more than a factory, it’s an office space, it’s got retail, it’s got F&B, it’s got an event space and also a park.
Creativity means the ability to express yourself, to be very honest to your identity and how people would perceive you.

It’s more than a factory, it’s an office space, it’s got retail, it’s got F&B, it’s got an event space and also a park.
My best experience in Uppercase would have to be those events that we have in this space, where we can actually you know, not work, and just talk about anything, whether it is private lives or whether it is just you know fun stuff. Those are the kind of moments that I look forward in this very communal space.
Out of the four core values for me, dedication to craft would have to be the most important, having a space like this where there is a lot freedom to pursue whatever you’re interested in. We want to explore different kinds of craft, different kinds of experimentation with our design, so we always look for a space like this.
My favourite spot in Uppercase, there used to be this high table, that used to be this cutting machine in the factory, and I thought it’s very nice because it’s a very quiet space, I’ll just sit there when I’m stressed out and just kind of zone out.
I think it would have to be this communal space in the middle. When I brought a lot friends here, the first thing that struck them was this huge communal space outside here. To them it’s an office it’s something quite interesting because they have never seen an office with such a huge open space.
